Status: a practice of writing a history of your home, property, and neighborhood. The intention is to recognize land relations and build context of place. For privacy purposes I will not share everything regarding the location of my home, but will post some examples below. I did this in spring of 2020.

• Who built your home? Who was each owner, and where did they come from?
• When was the road built?
• Who were the indigenous people of your place, and (if applicable) when did colonizers settle it?

Watershed: Eld Inlet

Mud Bay tidal flats

Mud Bay is the southernmost reach of Puget Sound, at Eld Inlet just outside the city limits of Olympia. It was the grounds for Olympia oyster production starting in 1890. The Mud Bay Logging Company (1899-1941) ran a railroad to the bay where they had a log dump. The logging railroad has been converted to a rail trail, now the McLane Creek Nature Trail.
